BOLD Alumni Provide Insight on MAIP for Members to Follow in their Footsteps
On Tuesday, September 28th, BOLD hosted it’s first in-person meeting of the semester presenting the Multicultural Advertising Internship Program (MAIP) summer opportunity to all members. Not only were former MAIP interns who went through the exciting experience welcomed back, but BOLD alumni who made great strides during their time as FIU students. Members had the chance to learn and connect with fellow peers and graduates.
BOLD FIU Class of 2018 and MAIP 2019 Fellow, Enrique Rosell, began the night with his own personal experience and provided application tips for others to pursue. As a former MAIP ambassador, Enrique informed students of upcoming info sessions the 4A’s Foundations will host, and a fundamental timeline applicants should keep a closer eye on at all times. The panelist greatly articulated MAIP benefits that can help members in their transition from undergraduate studies to a post-grad career job. In turn, Enrique currently stands as a Program Manager at the Wolfsonian Public Humanities Lab and serves as a helpful resource for BOLD students wanting to improve their overall brand.
As the night continued, Andres Camacho, BOLD Spring 2021 Account Supervisor and MAIP 2021 fellow, shared his application experience through providing various disciplines the program offers and how he landed in Account Management at Wieden+Kennedy New York. The multicultural aspect of the summer opportunity that Andres was fortunate enough to share, allowed for all members to feel welcomed. It was also craftily noted that if Andres had to be described in 140 characters or less, his most fitting description would be that he’s “a bilingual communicator and account manager committed to social change merging culture and creativity [together]” (Camacho). Andres is now working as an Assistant Account Executive for Wieden+Kennedy NY and incorporates all BOLD lessons and memories that have helped him along the way.
Daniela Gil, former BOLD Fall 2020 Director of Culture and MAIP 2021 fellow, succeeded the presentation by discussing her Media Planning and Buying experience working under MediaHub Worldwide and networking exposure with MAIP Coach CEO and Founding Partner at Media by Mother, David Gaines. She expressed that making the most out of every experience can make or break the outcome you expect to see and potentially reach during the next level in your career. Daniela discussed the importance of maintaining a professional composure and how her networking skills at the notable Face of Talent event signing off her MAIP fellowship brought her name to further heights. Her next career move was now becoming an Incoming Account Coordinator at Max Borges Agency.
All three MAIP panelists provided authentic insight for members to be intrigued in learning more about the process and being open to new opportunities around them. It was great to see BOLD alumni welcomed back as they enter new phases of their careers and highlight how BOLD supported their professional endeavors within each of their journeys.
