Interview Tips and Tricks with Rebecca Rovirosa-Capote, CEO and Founder of L’Epic Miami

On Tuesday, April 14th, BOLD welcomed Rebecca Rovirosa-Capote, the CEO and Founder of L’Epic Miami, to do an interview workshop. Prior to creating her own company, she explains how her career thus far has not been a linear process. Rovirosa-Capote was an Art/Fashion Marketing student. Throughout the years, she has been able to dive into different parts of the creative industry. This includes things such as fashion, filmmaking, and producing to name a few. She was able to launch L’EPic Miami about four years ago.

To open up the workshop, Rebecca asked if there were any graduating members. She then gave the advice that there is no right or wrong way to go about seeking a job, but rather key takeaways to be successful. One important factor that Rovirosa-Capote mentioned is to feel inspired throughout and understand the meaning behind what you are doing. Moving forward, she engaged the members by asking if they had a resume ready and if anyone had completed any internships. After gaining a few responses, she goes on to share how she also did various internships and how good of an opportunity they were because they gave her a chance to discover what would be the best thing for her to do.

The first step for job-seeking successfully as she mentions is to have a clear definition of what you are passionate about. Rebecca goes on to explain that there are various ways to conduct research and an example is to use GlassDoor. Through conducting this research, one would be able to see if the job they want would be a good fit. The second step she mentions is one’s resume and LinkedIn profile. LinkedIn is a leading platform that helps with networking and showcasing one’s skills. Connecting with others provides that human connection that can lead to vast opportunities. Moving along, Rebecca goes on to say that it is important to have an accountability partner that serves as a support system throughout the job-hunting journey. She mentions how hard it would have been for her if she did not have them with her.

Resilience and resistance are the two aspects that have yet to change within the market. These two aspects have gotten her through the tough parts. As this BOLD meeting was more of a workshop, members had the opportunity to jump in with any questions they had. Martin Ponce, the Director of Culture, asked how someone can show they would be a good candidate for a position without having much experience. To answer the question, Rebecca said that it is important to see where your skills are transferable and to figure out how to tell your story. She goes on to say that one must be able to point out how an experience they had is relevant to the job they are applying to.

Through this interview and job-seeking workshop, BOLD members were able to ask everything and anything they wanted to know regarding the interview process. Rebecca Rovirosa-Capote was able to offer incredible insight and relate the questions to experiences she has had in the past. It was a very interactive meeting in which everyone was able to take away many key components. Members of the agency are now ready and prepared to go on a job-seeking journey and apply this new knowledge!
