Donald Silver and Hugo Ottolenghi Host the Latest BOLD Workshop Covering Crisis Management

BOLD hosted its final workshop of the semester highlighting one of the most prominent areas in public relations on Tuesday, November 16th. The organization welcomed in Donald Silver, the Chief Operations Officer (COO) from Boardroom Communications and BOLD Advisor, Hugo Ottolenghi, to share a crisis management exercise that is relevant and debatable in today’s news.

The workshop started off with a brief introduction on the current Travis Scott Astroworld event indicating the lack of preparation and 4 essential viewpoints from a crisis management perspective. The first prominent question for members to dive into was the collective thought “Who is responsible?” and what supports this claim. The second question dealt with more of what role the performer played in the overall chaotic events and how he should respond from a PR perspective. The third inquisition involved the actual social media responses from the major superstar and how it has affected the overall message of communication. Lastly, the guest speakers imposed what students would suggest to the Travis Scott team and production company moving forward considering the incidents are still ongoing.

Many members described the workshop as a progressive brainstorm activity and appreciated the overall meeting’s discourse. Crisis management has been on a remarkable rise in the past years of social, and it continues to call for dynamic assessment between every variable in a critical situation.
